First Blog - Blog, links to other blogs, comments on other blogs

As our first task for the course, we had to search the Best of Blogs award website; scooping around, I found some interesting blogs. This first entry donest have a main subject, it is merely interesting themes that I think concern us all.
We have seen and learned that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for the equality of men; he dreamed of seeing people from all races live together (especially blacks and whites) and overcome their differences independently of the colour of their skin.
Today, blacks and whites, and many races have the same treatment (although theres still a lot of racism), and have learned to "get along"; we could say that Dr.King´s dreams came true. Even though we have learned to live together, know we have to find a way to overcome an even worst war: climate change. We can ask ourselves many questions after reading this blog:
What will the United States do when the consequences of climate change really start to affect us (interpreting the current changes in our climate as "tender". We still have yet a lot of things to overcome)? will they start a war for water? if today they are present in Iraq and the middle east (supposedly to contain peace. I personally think its for oil), will they be in Colombia tomorrow taking our huge water sources? if many developed nations that are aware of the damage that us humans have made against nature make part of the Kyoto protocol, why hasn´t the United States suscribed yet?

Haven´t you asked yourself what was the climate like here in Medellin 10 years ago? don´t remember? how about 5 years ago? I myself wonder at least once a day where is the world moving to: I see people happy because its hot and they can go swimming, I see people happy when it rains a lot because they simply like that weather, but what we dont see is why our climate is acting so strange. If you can remember, our city used to be called "the city of the eternal spring"; I think know every week we have to swift it between "the city of the eternal rain" and "the city of the eternal sun". What will be of our city (and of course, our planet) tomorrow? and in 10 years? and 100 years?.
I thnik this blog is VERY interesting because it gives me and many people, a little bit of hope; it shows what changes are being made by ONG´s, governments, companies, people, etc. I think that we are paying the consequences of our actions against nature and that we have accelerated the death of our planet, but above all, I see people making changes, not to reverse what we already screwed up, but to extend our future a bit more. So I think everyone should ask themselves: what am I doing for my planet?
This blog is simply interesting for me because it shows a wide perspective of japanese culture; it shows how they live, their very natural and energy flowing environment, their values, their background, etc.
I think that we as international negotiators have to be very aware of the different cultures there are and how they can affect international business; it is important to understand that every country, every culture and every person thinks, feels, expresses differently, so by knowing a little about their beliefs, we can reduce the risk of damaging a business just because of the cultural differences.
Even though people dont study international business, I think its nice to learn about others and how they live.
